Ishwar Chandra belonged to a poor Brahmin family based in Bengal. His parents knew the importance of education and enrolled him at a school. His quest to gain knowledge was so strong that he sat under the street lamp to study as his family could not afford gas lamp. Education played a significant role in Ishwar Chandra’s life.
