Jal Shakti Abhiyan
Jal Shakti Abhiyan is a recently launched water conservation campaign undertaken by the Government of India with an aim to cover almost 256 districts across the entire country. This is in response to the extreme water shortage faced by several parts of India.
This campaign has its focus on five important aspects- Intense afforestation, development of watershed, rainwater harvesting, reuse of water and renovation of traditional water bodies.
It is going to take place in mainly two phases to ensure eradication of the common water problem. The efforts are to ensure efficient water usage for agricultural as well as personal needs. However, this needs to go a long way to ensure success.
