                    Karnataka was formed on this day, hence this day is also known as Kannada Day, Karnataka Development Day or Karnataka Day. Rajyotsava express the birth of a state. In 1956, a state was created by combine all the Kannada speaking regions in India, which was named as Karnataka. The spoken language in Karnataka was Kannada. This day is announced as a state holiday.

The people of Karnataka celebrate Kannada Rajyotsava Day with great ceremony. On this day, people of Karnataka wear their orthodox clothes and also raise their state flag, which is red and yellow. The people who was there also sing the Kannada Anthem. The state government awards people who donated  to the development of Karnataka. The Chief Minister initiated the function of the State which is held at Kanteerava Stadium, Bengaluru.

This Rajyotsava is celebrated by all over the religions Hindu, Muslims and Christians, Not only in Karnataka but also in many parts of India this day is celebrated. In 1950, Aluru Venkata Rao initiated the Karnataka Ekikaran Movement, in which he dreamed of creating a unrelated state for the people speaking Kannada language.
