'Land of Kashyap' is the sanskrit term for Kashmir.  

Rishi Kashyap was one of Saptarishis who was Saraswat Brahmin and formalized ancient Historical Vedic Religion.  

His descendants are commonly called valley in his honor.

Kashmir falls in northwestern part of Indian subcontinent.  

Geographical denotions of Kashmir includes valleys between Great Himalayas and Pir Panjal Mountain range till mid 19th century.

It includes larger area of Indian-administered state of Jammu and Kashmir consisting of 3 divisions of Kashmir valley.
