It was designated as a National Park of India in the year 1974. The Kaziranga National Park is not only the home of the world’s great One-Horned Rhino but also many rare wild animals of Assam such as Wild Water Buffalo, Hog Deer are found there. It was also declared as a Tiger reserve in the year 2006.
According to the census of 2018, the Kaziranga National Park has a population of 2413 Rhinos. It is recognized as an Important Bird Area by a global organization called BirdLife International
