As I grow older, life is going to get harder. I have accepted that. So I choose to embark on this journey with an open mind, heart, and attitude. And always remembering that life is truly what you make it.

I believe that having a positive outlook on life will help me get through many hard times. For example, my uncle passed away recently from cancer. He fought as hard as he could for as long as he could so I knew that it was meant to be. I know that most people would cry and let sorrow fill their lives, but I just smiled because I thought of the lasting positive impression he had on my life. My family has raised me to move on with my life if something bad happens and I am very thankful for that.

To maintain an optimistic attitude towards life, I know I must never take anything too seriously. Let’s say that you are walking up the crowded stairs at school and you trip and fall right on your face. Embarrassing, right? I just say, laugh it off! Or if you are playing in the championship baseball game and you are up to bat. There are two outs with bases loaded and the score is tied in the last inning. The pressure gets to you and you strike out. Your team loses. It might seem like a huge deal at the time, but pouting about it will not make anything better. You would have to keep your head up and laugh it off. I always remember that none of the little things are permanent or define who I am. The only thing that is permanent is the way I react to these situations. I can always count on a sense of humor to help get me through the toughest of situations.

Being in high school, there are so many other things to worry about, so I can’t sweat the small stuff. The only way I can get through the day is remembering that anything difficult that comes my way is a test of my strength. I could either except life’s challenges as a good thing or dwell on the negative and make things harder than they should be. Like any other teenager would, I choose the easier one.

Another reason I keep a cheerful attitude is because life is short. We never know when our last moments on earth will be. Shouldn’t we all be seizing the opportunity to be happy? I sure think we should. Also, Every old person I encounter tells me that my teenage years are the best days of my life that I will remember for a long time. I don’t believe that I should waste them dwelling on the negative. I want to remember these days as bright, hopeful days. Not bad, stressful days.

I always want to remain a positive person throughout my life. I believe that if I remember to make the most of my life, than I will be happier. I will always make the best of every situation.
