But 21stcentury is the century of Westernization. There is a common saying “You have to pay a price for everything”. This saying is indeed true. When Indians are accepting almost everything from the western culture, their dressing sense, their language, their food, their mannerisms, the other things would most certainly follow. The youth today, almost all of them are deeply fond of the Western culture and the result obviously is blindly following the Western culture even with the evils of excessive smoking and drinking for instance.
Youth today are of the opinion that since they are financially independent and after they attain adulthood, they have the right to live as they want and with the person they want. In most of the educated and upper class societies, live- in relationships is a common phenomenon. The more Westernization is being accepted by the Indian society, the more live- in relationship system is gaining significance.
At times the question is not that whether live- in relationships are right or wrong, the question that arises is that have Indians totally forgotten their own culture and its significance.
Is every aspect of the Western culture better than the Indian culture?
It is not that the youth do not believe in the sacred institution of marriage but the fact is that their priorities have changed. Couples today feel that they need to understand each other properly before entering into the sacred institution of marriage. The way of thinking of the people has changed which can be considered as a fruit of Westernization
