Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi who was commonly known as ‘Bapu,’ was born on 2nd October 1869 in Porbandar, Gujrat. He was a freedom fighter who led several movements against British rule to guide India towards Independence.
He is known for his way of non-violence to fight against injustice. Rabindranath Tagore had given him the title ‘Martyr Of The Nation’ since 1948. Hindu activist Nathuram Godse killed him on 30th January 1948.
Although Mahatma Gandhi was successful in making India independent in 1947, he was deeply hurt by India’s partition and had cried over it. The people of the country greatly loved him
