There is Arabian Sea in the west and Bay of Bengal in the east. There is a big ocean in the south called ‘Indian Ocean’.
It got independence on the 15th of August, 1947. It is a land of great patriots, who fought for our motherland and gave us freedom. India is also called Bharat and Hindustan. It has 29 States and 7 union territories. It shares its land with Nepal, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, China and Myanmar. India is the second most populated country in the world. New Delhi is the capital of India and the city of Mumbai is known as the business capital of India. The currency of India is Rupee. Although many languages are spoken in our country, but Hindi is our national languages. Rajasthan is the largest state by area and Goa is the smallest. India also has two island Andaman and Nicobar island and Lakshadeep island.
The National animal of India is a tiger, the national bird is peacock, national flower is lotus and national fruit is mango. The national flag of India is a horizontal tricolour with deep saffron at the top, white in the middle and hard green at the bottom. There is also an Ashoka chakra in the middle strap.
