Mr. Narendra Modi’s full name is Narendra Damodardas Modi. He was born in a middle-class Gujarati family in Vadnagar, Gujarat on 17 September 1950. As being born in a middle-class Indian family, Narendra Modi’s childhood was as same as any ordinary middle-class child. His father’s name was Damodardas Mulchand Modi and mother’s name was Heeraben Modi. He was engaged to Jashodaben Chimanlal when he was just 17 years old but chose to walk away from the marriage and has remained a bachelor. He used to help his father on a tea stall and let her and his own stall.The leadership skills were always there in him from the childhood.  He was introduced to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh at the age of 8. And later became a full-time worker for the RSS. He left his home in 1967 and spend the time traveling to Northern and North Eastern India visiting various Hindu Ashrams. Swami Vivekananda has been a great influence on his life. He used to run a tea stall until the time RSS admitted him as a full-time member. He was the Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014 and is the Member of Parliament for Varanasi.  In 2014 Lok Sabha Elections gave the party a majority in the Lok Sabha and he was elected as the 14th Prime Minister of India. During his tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat and now as a Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi have launched many successful schemes and campaigns. He was the chief minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014. In that period he succeeded to encourage the economic growth of Gujarat in terms of industrialism and business. Being India’s Prime Minister he has successfully managed to attract direct foreign investments from multiple countries which will be helping the blossom the Indian economy. In his career as the Prime Minister of India, he has successfully run many campaigns such as Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Digital India campaign, Swachh Bharat Abhiyanand many more. The Government also lowered the corporate taxes, stopped the wealth tax and also reduced the customs duties on gold, jewelry and increase sales taxes. In September 2014 he initiated “Make in India” campaign to encourage foreign companies to manufacture their products in India making India a global manufacturing hub. On 25 June 2015 Modi launched a program to develop 100 smart cities which is expected to bring IT companies an extra benefit of $20 billion. In June 2015 Modi launched a “Housing for all by 2022”project to the eliminates the slums in India by building 20 million affordable homes for India’s urban poor people. Narendra Modi has also done a tremendous work to eradicate black money from India. The demonization of 500 and 1000 rupees currency notes is the first step in that direction, which will ultimately stop the corruption in India, the use of counterfeit currency and the terrorism. Narendra Modi is India’s 14th and current Prime Minister.
