A shadow is a dark (real image) area where light from a light source is blocked by an opaque object. It occupies all of the three-dimensional volume behind an object with light in front of it. The cross section of a shadow is a two-dimensional silhouette, or a reverse projection of the object blocking the light.

Natural shadows is the method where the background gets removed and instead of that there is put the image in a white background and form a shadow that seems quite natural .

Shadows are of two types : A crisp edge one formed by a point of source of light and a rather more fuzzy one that is formed by larger source . The reign of deep total shadow is called Umbra and the reign of partial shadow is called Penumbra .

Shadows are made up of blocking lights . Light ray travels from a source in straight line . If an opaque ( solid ) objects get in a way , it stops light ray from travelling through it . This results in an area of darkness appearing behind the objects.
