The foundation of Indian independence was laid in the year 1857 when the first war of independence was fought but we got success after 90 years of it in 1947. On 15th August 1947, a new country took over the attention of the world with its principles of non-violence and peace and above all had many challenges before it to stand in the world scenario. Our country has almost completed 70 years of its independence.
The most important job to be done after achieving independence was to establish democratic government in India, which at that time was felt almost impossible because of diversified nature of India. The credit of restoring peace in India goes to our first Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru, who efficiently tackled this problem by using media to spread messages of peace and also deployed army where the situations were serious. Princely states wanted to be independent but Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, with his great abilities able to convince them to join Indian Federation which even evolved at times to take up military help.
Last but not the least was the domestic social problems of unemployment, illiteracy, self sufficiency, poverty, poor health, communal disharmony etc. which were all to be dealt with same urgency. With all these mentioned problems India struggled to make its own respectable place in the world.
Now India is self-reliant country with respect to all the sectors, whether it is industrial growth, employment, service sector, education, women welfare, upliftment of weaker section of society, infrastructure, science and technology, arts and sports, bilateral relations, aid to other countries, people's participation, India has registered its presence actively. In past many years India has made its own mark in almost every field,
