\bf{Plastic} - one of the most common thing of the era-is a synthetic polymer that can be molded into any shape and turn solid after cooling.

Plastic is of two types:-

\bf{1) \:Thermoplastic -} The plastic that can be moulded again and again is known as thermoplastic.

\bf{2) \:Thermosetting\: plastic-} The Plastic that once moulded cannot be moulded again is called thermosetting plastic or thermosetts. They are usually dull in color.

Plastic can be seen anywhere - from shopping bags to machines. It has become so common that one cannot expect ones existence without plastics. Plastic has made our life easier and comfortable.

Think of a day, just a day without plastic. Can you expect your life to be comfortable. From small retail shopping to big works, we need plastic. We live in a modern and busy world. People do not have a single second to waste. Can we expect them to stop using plastic and go back to the ancient times?

Use of plastic can be associated with development. We need plastic for making pen body - so, it helps in bringing literacy indirectly. Wire cables are made up of plastic - so indirectly plastic is helping in electricity.

Some of the advantages of plastic are-:

✔It is easy to store and convenient in use.

✔It is one of the best insulator known.

✔ It saves our time.

✔It saves our money - plastic bags are way cheaper than jute bags.

But as a coin has two faces, plastic has many disadvantages too.

Being synthetic, one can easily predict the loss it has over environment .

According to a research, aquatic lives are eating plastic thinking them as jelly fish.

Some of the disadvantages of plastic are:-

✔Plastic causes air pollution when burnt as it releases toxic gases.

✔Plastic causes land pollution as it can't be decomposed. It takes millions of years for its decomposition.

✔Plastic causes water pollution when dumped into water.

From the above disadvantages, we can easily conclude that Plastic isn't the problem itself . Problem lies in its decomposition. Problem is we ,human beings, how we decompose it.

One of the best way to cut down the use of plastic is by 3Rs of environment i.e. Reduce, Reuse and recycle.

Among these, Reuse is the best. It doesn't require any energy. But some people do not do it just to satisfy their vanity.

Plastic can be used to create electricity. Yeah! Sweden imports the waste from neighbouring countries to generate electricity . Isn't it a great idea!

Human mind is the most mischievous thing in this world. If it had created so-called problem, it will definitely find a solution too! Let's hope for a better tomorrow.

\bf{Hope\:it\:helps}

What are the advantages and disadvantages of using plastics?

\huge\mathfrak{\underline{\underline{\red{Answer:-}}}}

Let's take plastic bags for instance:

The advantages of plastics: It is durable, low cost, water resistant, lesser energy and heavy chemicals requirements in manufacture and are light weight. Many studies comparing plastic versus paper for shopping bags show that plastic bags have less net environmental effect than paper bags, requiring less energy to produce, transport and recycle; however these studies also note that recycling rates for plastic are significantly lower than for paper.Plastic carrier bags can be reused as trash bags or bin bags. Also, plastic bags are complimentary in many locations but are charged or "taxed" in others.

The disadvantages of plastics: Plastics bags are make of a non-renewable resource, which gives us more reasons to use recyclable shopping bags. Plastic bags are also flimsy and do not sit as well as either paper or cloth. They are a hazard to wildlife animals, if they are not disposed properly. Lastly, plastic bags clogs roadside drains, which could cause the flooding of the street at heavy rainfalls.
