POLLUTION
Pollution means contamination of harmful substances in our environment . Pollution is one of the greatest problem which world wide people are facing .
Pollution has been classified into three categories :
- Soil pollution
- Water pollution
- Air pollution
★Soil pollution : The property of soil get hampered when certain unwanted and harmful things are thrown to soil such as plastic , lead , glass etc . It is regarded as soil pollution.
Causes of soil pollution
- Carelessness of common people. Some people throw different non-biodegradable substances to soil carelessly instead of throwing it to dustbins.
- In some industrially developed areas industrial wastes are thrown to the soil which damage the soil of that area
- Many farmers use excess of fertilizer and pesticides in there crop which damages the natural fertility of the soil .
★Water Pollution: The contamination of water bodies due to addition of different harmful substances is referred to as water pollution. Water pollution is caused due to different causes . They are :
- The addition of industrial wastes into the river , ocean and different water bodies etc
- Throwing of different garbages to drains and other water bodies
★ Air pollution : The contamination of different pollutants( NO2 , CO , H2S , coke etc) to the air is referred to air pollution . It is a major problem at this instant . Because air pollution causes global problem . It is kind of pollution where if one area is not polluting the environment because of other area's pollution that area may get affected.
Causes of air pollution :
- The release of harmful gases to the atmosphere such as carbon monoxide , nitrus-oxide , hydrogen sulphide , CFCs etc. by the industries , different gadgets used in home .
- Burning of fossil fuel .
- Using excess of automobiles and vehicles .
Measures we should take
To control pollution we must take few steps . We must use fossil fuels wisely without any wastage. We must be careful that we should not throw the non-biodegradable waste to land and water . We must innovate ideas to recycle more and more .
