Essay on present condition of farmers in india
Answers
Agriculture is the basis of the Indian economy. Since the ancient times, the economic basis of India has remained agriculture. It provides employment and livelihood to a large population of India. Though, considering the significance of agriculture in India the Government of India has set up various institutes to invent modern techniques to increase agricultural production. However, the status of peasants has not been uplifted, due to the role played by the Zamindars in agricultural activities. A large scale of peasant population in India lives below the poverty line. Poor farmers used to take loans from big land-lords or Zamindars who in return, charges high-interest rates, causing an increasing debt for the peas-ants. This situation sometimes leads farmers to commit suicide. The value of the crop is inversely pro-portionate to productivity. If the richness is more than the cost will be less and vice versa. Only the big farmers can afford the use of machines and get good productivity at a low cost. Therefore, it may be concluded that the condition of poor farmers in India is worst.
