Atal Bihari Vajpayee was born on 25 December 1924 to Krishna Devi and
Krishna Bihari Vajpayee in Gwalior. He completed his post-graduation
with an M.A. in Political Science from Dayanand Anglo-Vedic College,
Kanpur with first class. He was the 10th Prime Minister of India, first
for 13 days in 1996 and then from 1998 to 2004. Prime Minister Atal
Bihari Vajpayee is an international icon who is respected and loved by
one and all. He is a true inspiration for young generations too.
A poet by heart, Atalji articulated poetry as one of the means of
expressing himself in any given situation. One of his poems on Jammu
& Kashmir “Mastak Nahi Jhukega” sums up India’s position on the
issue of Jammu & Kashmir. He wins the heart of all especially the
young generation because of his unique characteristics: a statesman par
excellence, a highly creative and talented poet, and a thinker with the
courage of conviction. He had an inimitable style of winning hearts.
He approved Delhi Metro Project which now becomes a lifeline of
Delhi. He scripted the DNA for the right of Education which made
education for children aged 6 to 14 years a fundamental right. He always
says that youths are the future of nation so they have to be making
strong. In Vajpayee was honoured with Padma Vibhushan award in 1992 and
with Bharat Ratna in 2015 as recognition of his services to the nation.
