The moon is the nearest heavenly neighbor of our beautiful planet that is orbiting it at a distance of 384,400 kilometers. Since from our planet it is clearly visible with its changing phases, it appears as if it is part of every man’s existence. However, it has many secrets and mysteries that space scientists feel attracted to solve. It has attracted man since beginning of civilization.
Undoubtedly, it is a gateway to stars and galaxies existing in the infinite deep space around our planet. With each passing decade and development of technology, man’s curiosity to travel space has been becoming more intense. Many countries have already conducted robotic and manned-missions to moon. The most recent was India’s robotic mission, Chandrayan 2 that was to land on the far side of moon on September 7, 2019. Unfortunately, it could not.
Beyond the moon are many intriguing planets such as Mars, Venus, etc. that man wants to land on. The moon can work as a launching station to those deep space ventures. Once man establishes colonies and research centers, exploring the deep space from there will become easier and more advanced.
