My birthday falls on 21st October. I stopped cutting cake after my 12th birthday. I spend time with my family on that day- we go to temple and then mom makes my favourite dishes, and I get blessings from my grandparents. I have not celebrated my birthday in school or college, because its mostly a holiday- Dussehra or Diwali or Rain holiday or Weekend. So, my birthday is usually celebrated by all :P
My 5th birthday was memorable. My grandma gave me Rs.50 and I got bananas for alms seekers in the temples in our area. Got their blessings.
1999: Celebrated my birthday with my new born sister. Special right?
2006: It was diwali. So mom made delicious sweets.
2011: My school Annual day. I got prize for "The Most Disciplined Student" I felt very happy to get a prize on my birthday.
2013: We went for some 10 temples. That birthday was quite special. Mahabalipuram with family and temple visit.
2014: My then friend made a video with my photographs and sweet words. She also gifted me a dress which is still my favourite.
Birthdays are always special for all of us. This is one day when we are the center of everyone's attention. This is a day when your loved one will leave no stone unturned to make us feel special and blessed.
For last several years, I am away from my family on my birthdays and on my birthdays; I prefer to have dinner with close friends followed by a good movie rather than an extravagant party to many people. I like to go to temple on my birthday to remind gods that I have faith on them.
I also observe a birthday year apart from calendar year and financial year. On every birthday, I will set certain goals for my birthday year. Birthdays are also a milestone day for introspection and I want to see the progress I have made and the way ahead.
This year, I had a memorable birthday as I was with my family in my native after many years. Many of my close relatives also came to our home for my birthday celebration. I again felt the joy we had as a kid when our birthdays were celebrated with friends, family and neighbours at home. I felt nostalgic by the ambience of my birthday.
I again felt like a child and was really enjoying being pampered. Birthdays are so much fun with family. It remind of all the wonderful birthdays we have celebrated together.
In the morning on my birthday, we went for shopping and my parents spent heavily on me. I was feeling as if it's not my birthday but my engagement or wedding. My brother was in college at that time due to his exams but my sister was with us on my birthday which was really like topping on the cake. I really love my siblings and all my cousins.
I hope that our love will only multiply with time and we celebrate more birthdays together.
