Narendra Damodardas Modi (born 17 September 1950) is an Indian politician. He is the current Prime Minister of India serving since 2014. He was the 14th Chief Minister of the state of Gujarat.[1] Modi was elected Prime Minister of India in May 2014.[2] He is a member of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

He was born into a Hindu Gujarati family in Vadnagar. As a child, Modi used to help his Father, who ran a tea stall at Vadnagar railway station. Later, he and his brother ran a tea stall of their own at a bus terminus.
In 1978 Modi received a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from School of Open Learning[5] at University of Delhi, graduating with a third class.[6] Five years later, in 1983, he received a Master of Arts degree in political science from Gujarat University,[7][8] as an external distance learning student.[9]
