Famous Greek philosopher Aristotle remarked more than two thousand three hundred years before that "Man is Social Animal he who lives without society is either a beast or God".
Prof.Park is right when he opines that "Man is not born but to be made human.Hence there exists a great deal of close relationships between man and society.
Man,the human animal, must satisfy certain natural basic needs in order to survive. He must eat, drink, excrete, sleep, maintain adequate health and procreate. These needs constitute the innate nature of man.
But man cannot live alone-he must enter into relationship with his fellows if he is to develop and maintain adequate mental and physical health. We know that this dependency of man on others is exhibited in the continuum of the life process, with parent-off spring relationship and with his existence with in the womb and during infancy. The organism is dependent upon the maternal organism for the satisfaction of its needs. This satisfaction is the result of biological co-operation between the embryo,or the infant, and the maternal organism. The maternal organism, too can only exist so long as the cells and tissues which comprise it act in co-operation one with the other. An individual cannot live if,among other functions, the heart does not pump blood to circulate through the body or the lings do not supply oxygen,or blood does not reach the brain.Food must be broken down and digested so that the ingredients necessary to replace worn tissue and the supply of vitamin and mineral needs to the body is assured-the whole process of cooperation with in the individual.Man"s life can only continue so long as his bodily function are co-operation-in short, where there is biological harmony.
The above brief look at man as an individual leads us to examine him as a social being-one who lives in a group, subject to the demands and pressures of modern society.
Man is social by nature:Human nature is such that it cannot but live in society. The human child is endowed with some latent capacities.Human qualities like capacity to learn language enquire and think ,play and work, help or harm other etc..are developed in human society only. These capacities grow throw social interaction with others, one cannot develop into a normal person in isolation.Man develops human qualities in society.
"Human actions can be modified to some extend but human nature cannot be changed"
Abraham lincoln.
Seriously, human beings are the most fortunate of God"s creation.Nature has provided us sufficient necessities and the ability to reason. Many a time our god gifted intelligence is misused often we compromise our wisdom for money and power.
We know that in s there is a necessary aptitude for creating calm, secure, and nurturing environment for all of us including animal kingdom yet we are doing opposite.
We have science and technology.yet much scientific enterprise is dedicated to annihilation and weapons, rather than constructing a better world to live in.
We understand human development and the needs for nutrition and healthful conditions.yet children the world over are dying of starvation by the thousands. But considering the predicament of our present world where countless people somewhere on earth are struggling to have one hygienic a meal a day.Scientists and doctors achieve medical wonders each passing day,yet we see people dying because of doctors and hospital authorities are more concerned in making money/profit.
It is good to see hospitals especially private hospitals coming up with the latest instrument and skilled doctors.Alas! The bill to these hospitals is so soaring that only the white-collar and rich party benefit.
By nature human beings are biased and selfish. We know enough about psychology to recognize the roots of hatreds and fears.Yet groups of us continue to find ourselves superior and special and energy in the dangerous and out mooted"We/this" manner of thinking rather than considering our whole human family and admitting that we are of one race.
If the government, politicians, powerful industrialists, religious fundamental leaders, civil servants and police officers that have such a substantial impact on human well being, dare to take responsibility and consider the consequences of their decisions from the perspective of their personal loved once being affected by conscienceless actions taken such as placing more value on profits than on people, then we would may begin to see a moral arousing and better world.
Man is not a social animal at the truest sense but a sociable able animal only when there is a scope for profit. When we retire from this wild world. We have to answer all the misdeeds we had done on this earth to the on who created us for some purpose.
