In the world today there are about five thousand endangered species. Around one specie dies out every year. Some animals become endangered because people are killing them for their horns, as in the case of the Black Rhino of Africa. Others become extinct because pesticides are put on the food we eat, causing the animals that eat the insects off the plant to become contaminated, which causes their predators to become contaminated, which often affects the shell of that organism?s egg. Here is a list of the endangered species, 91 endangered birds, 76 endangered mammals, 36 endangered reptiles, 21 endangered amphibians, 115 endangered fish, 70 endangered clams, 35 endangered snails, 44 endangered insects, 12 endangered arachnids, 21 …show more content…

The Tsunami that hit the countries in the Indian Ocean killed a lot of fish that we did not know existed. A lot of people lost their lives. Homes and boats were destroyed or left in bad shape. To this day Scientists are trying to discover what caused that underground earthquake.
People are killing wolves for their fur, teeth, or for fun. I say ?STOP! Wolves are not killing people because they are meat eaters. Would you kill a person if they were trying to destroy your homes, killing your young, or killing you for your beautiful fur?? Wolves belong to the same family as our friend, the domestic dog. The Dog is a descendent of the wolf. Some people have Siberian Huskies that look like wolves, however, they are just a domestic dog.
Some native animals to the United States that are extinct are the Ivory-billed woodpecker of Texas, the Hawaiian goose of Hawaii, the Condor and Hawksbill turtle of California, the Key deer, Flordia panther, and the Manatee of Flordia. The causes of the extinction of these animals are Pollution, Habitat destruction, and Accidental Kills.
The Bald Eagle is one of the most beautiful birds in the world, but until recently there were not many left. In 1960 DDT was banned because it was killing our beloved Eagles. The Eagle is now making a comeback.
