I am going to share my experience when I was younger.

I was tasked with looking after my 5-year-old cousin, and I failed because I couldn't keep him from running around the house (thinking he's Superman). I became enraged at him and ran back to catch him.

Then I noticed the house was filthy and messed up. Right when my mother and family arrived . She slapped me, yelled at me and Got an earfull of scolding. After that I was grounded for three weeks.

After that even I cleaned the entire house while my cousin brother was laughing his lungs out. I wanted to slap him hard, but I already had 5 of them in front of everyone.

It was extremely humiliating situation for me, as i am a resposible elder sister in house I just wanted them to find the house in better condition then they left.

This was my experience of the "time when I had been given a responsibility and I failed to keep it".
