The inscription below our national emblem proclaims that it is always truth that ultimately wins. We celebrate many religious festivals which deliver the message of victory of good over evil. Our scriptures are replete with the stories and incidents of the ultimate victory of truth. We also inculcate the virtue of truth in our children.
It is a fact that the victory of truth over falsehood, deceit, etc. demands the following of the right path. Even then the irony is that it is not easy to seek justice in life. Crores of cases have been lying pending in our courts for years. Those fighting for justice and truth are under great stress, while the criminals are roaming free and enjoying life. Who knows how many of them will survive to have a glimpse of truth?
Today dishonesty has become the order of the day. Our culture has undergone drastic changes, which has altered our personality and relations. From dawn to dusk we wear a mask. We greet each other with false smiles. We stab our near and dear ones on their back by divulging their secrets which they confided to us. The society is infested with the evils of backbiting and scandal mongering. Truth is buried deep. We resort to false praises of those from whom we have to elicit some favor. We know that what we are saying is far from truth. We gag the voice our conscience. How will truth win in the long run in such cases?
‘The right means for the right ends’ is a thing of past now. We eke out our living by unethical means to bring up our families. We hope that money will bring us happiness and prosperity, but contrary to it happens. In stead of leading a simple and truthful life, we are living an artificial life, and then we lament the loss of spirit.
Everyday the media (the print as well as electronic) is bringing to light the heinous crimes of rapes perpetrated on 4 – 5 years old girls. Will they ever get justice? If yes, what kind of justice? Will these girl-children ever come out of trauma?
The insensitive and casual approach of the police, lawlessness, tardy and faulty system of judiciary, senseless and loose statements of the politicians, the goons roaming freely, etc are some of the factors responsible for the ever increasing cases of rapes. Do the government agencies not know the truth? Why is then no stern action taken against anybody? Who will come to reveal the truth and take action?
The following news in The Tribune dated April 24, 2013 is a glaring evidence of the facts stated in the above paragraph:
“According to the National Crime Records Bureau … more than one lakh rapists went unpunished across the country between 2001 and 2010 because of poor evidence.”
Will the truth in these cases ever come out and win? If not. How will the inscription below the national emblem be justified? Is the slogan inscribed for name sake or…
