I still remember when my family first got into horse racing and having horses, I was about 11 years old in the 5th grade. Back then the horse races seemed to be a different story than now. Everyone would take care and train their horses to enjoy the sport and have fun with it. Yeah of course there was money involved but everyone knows a little gambling always makes it more exciting. Now a days it has taken a spin, there are still those that do it to enjoy the sport but it’s now being overpowered by those who are greedy and would do anything to make money off their animals.

Owners that have popular horses that know people will pay to watch their horse run make events just so people will spend money for them to make. There are even those who fix races so they can gamble and take everyone’s money. This is one of the many examples that shows how everyday even when we don’t think about it the world is slowly hurting itself for the benefit of one person.

We always say, “I need this… I need that…” Do we ever stop to really think about the difference between a “need” and a “want” is? Everybody wants more each and everyday. We have created wants into necessities. Even though each individual is different we all do this. I most definitely know I do. I complain about how I need new clothes or how I want a new ipod, when I still have good clothes and an ipod.

One reason I feel we do this is because the world has become very competitive. We always want to be a step ahead of everyone else. We always want more than we really need. Our world has become greedy. It happens everyday in this world. Just think about it wealthy people that have nice lives wish they had more money like millionaires, millionaires wish they were billionaires and it just never stops. The problem we encounter is comparing ourselves to those who have more, to the things we wish we had. We are never satisfied with what we have. This is why I believe the more we get the more we want, which has created a greedy world.
