world without numbers is a hard thing to imagine! It would be back to the basics for us as a species. We would have to depend on sheer luck and physical experience. Considering that the first numbers were used in the form of tallies about 40,000 years ago, we have a very limited idea of what the world might look like. Twenty things that are different:
No electronics, no electricity. Forget about computers.
No time. The only time you might encounter would be simply day/night or cold season, dry season, wet season, hot season. Possibly you might encounter people who do things based on the way the moon looks.
No measurements. Everything needs to be physically pointed out. If you want to build a house you couldn’t say to the rock cutting guy, “I need 20 rocks the size of 5′x5′” Instead, you need to bring the rock cutting guy to your home site and show him the space, or bring him some big pieces of wood the same length and height as the rocks you need.
No money. Yes, all physical barter and trade. No banks.
Very limited abstract thought. Obviously no math. No geometry. People are content to live without thinking of ways to improve their work and communication.
