The Republic Day of India is celebrated every year on 26th January. It was the day on which India adopted its world renowned Constitution on 26th January 1950 and became a Sovereign Democratic Republic. India celebrates the Republic day with hearts filled with patriotism and enthusiasm in every nook and corner of the country.
Introduction
After a long period of tyranny of the British Rule India became independent on 15 August 1947. In August 1947 Drafting Committee for making the Constitution was created. Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was the presiding chairman of this committee. This committee was given the huge task of preparing and planning the permanent Constitution of India. On 4th November 1947, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar submitted the final draft of the Constitution to Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the First President of India, but on 26 January 1950 the Constitution of India was fully enforced.
Celebrations on the Eve
The Indian Republic day is embarked by playing patriotic songs in every household, radio, television and even at every crossroad in the country. The air is filled with pride and enthusiasm. The Tricolour is first hoisted at the Red Fort in New Delhi by the Prime Minister of India and then it is unfurled across the country. The Indian national flag is hoisted with pride and the National Anthem is sung. The star attraction of this day is the great parade of the Indian Armed Forces, which is held at the Rajpath, New Delhi. The Indian Army, Navy and Airforce, give a spectacular demonstration of their weaponry and valour to the people of India and around the world. After the parade all the States of India and different ministries of Indian Government display their Tableau which beautifully showcases their culture and tradition under the theme of ‘Unity in Diversity in India’. Folk dances and songs of India are also presented by the school children.
On this day all the Indians are remembering the martyrs of the motherland and vow to make India a better and peaceful nation.
