Answer:

Kerala is making the slow turnaround to eco friendly waste disposal but there is a troubling afterlife to its garbage that authorities still have no way to deal with.

Even as Kerala starts to make the slow turn around to efficient and eco-friendly waste disposal , however, there is a troubling after life to its garbage that the authorities still have no way to deal with.

one of the key problems was lack of a scientific approach to disposing their solid waste. As environmentalists are quick to point out, unscientific garbage dumps do not automatically become landfills. Unfortunately, going by the requirements for paper landfillings. How ever it has several large and small dumping yards spread around its key towns and cities, which became massive sources of pollution, filling the air with toxic odours and methane gas, polluting the ground water and making life impossible for those living near these sites.

Once the waste is out of our home to surroundings without any proper measure, it is difficult to manage. So dispose it at the source itself.

Explanation:

Problems

a) abundance of non biodegradable wastes

b)no proper disposal of biodegradable waste and hence dumping into nearby area

c)Use and throw mentality of people

d) Lack of EFFECTIVE awareness

e)no proper implimentation of governament policy on waste management

Waste management is not only the duty of government authorities but also of responsible citizens. Redusing the amount of waste created at home and industries will inturn reduse the garbage pile in our surrounding

1) Switch on to biodegradable substances.

It would be difficut in the initial stage, but still it is not impossible.

Carry a jute bag when going for purchase. if not possible at least carry good quality plastic bag which you make sure dont throw away and will use all the day. Refuse new plastic bags.

Using ink pen is another simple but great way (small step by students).

Shop keepers could replace plastic bags to jute bad or paper bag.

Make sure the plastic covers of milk packets are not trown away. store it till the next recycling van arrives.

Dont sent back a kabulivala free hand. Give him some paper and plastic.

2) Now with biodegradable waste... setting a biogas plant at home is the best remedy. It requirs less than 2 meter square area but an effective way of waste disposal.

Waste could be turned into manure, cooking gas and even electricity by using biogas

3) Following 3R principle EFFECTIVELY.

REDUSE, REUSE and RECYCLE is a very famous motto but never followed practically. Still it is a great measure and could be done if people are willing to do so.

Reduse the waste generation by careful using, Reuse the existing than going for brand new one and recycle the old waste so it could be made useful.

4) Proper awareness and leadership

People are aware of bad effects and measures to follow, but it seems to be insufficient than required.

whoever is able(NGOs, Students, Officials)to take initiative for such campaings and waste disposal awareness camp should do it and people will follow.

5)proper collection of waste and disposal by government authorities

Placing dustbins and also taking the garbage regularly will motivate people to dispose the waste properly.

Or else people feel demotivated and lose hope in waste management
