Last week disastrous floods took place near Shillong, the capital of
Manipur state.
These floods were caused by persistent heavy showers throughout the month of June and July.
Many mud houses were swept away by the force of running water and traffic condition became hopeless with waterlogging in all roads.
33 people lost their lives in the floods and property worth Rs. 33 crores
was destroyed in this national disaster.
Manipur Chief minister and our Honourable Prime minister took survey of the area and promised financial assistance for rehabilitation.
