Hi friend!
The equation relating the distance of object(u) , distance of image(v) and focal length(f) of lens is called lens formula. It is same for bith concave and convex lens is given as
1/v - 1/u = 1/f
For a convex lens , by sign convention (u) is negative,(f) is positive, (v) is positive
For a concave lens, (u) is negative (f) is negative (v) is negative.
In numericals the known values of substituted with the proper sign and the unknown quantity is obtained with its proper sign. according to sign convention for a convex lens u is always negative, f is always positive, v is positive for real image and v is negative for virtual image. But for concave lens. u,v,f all negatives and the numerical value of u greater than v.
Hope it helps..plz mark as brainliest answer :-)!

In Case of Curved mirror,
The reciprocal of focal length is equal to the reciprocal of image distance plus reciprocal of object distance, that is:-
1/f = 1/v +1/u
In Case of Curved lens,
The reciprocal of focal length is equal to the reciprocal of image distance minus reciprocal of object distance,
that is:-
1/f =1/v - 1/u
The reciprocal of focal length is equal to the reciprocal of image distance plus reciprocal of object distance, that is:-
1/f = 1/v +1/u

that is:-
1/f =1/v - 1/u
