Newton's second law states that " The rate of change of linear momentum is directly proportional to the force applied"

i.e dp/dt ∝ F ( where P is momentum, F is force)

In our dimension proportionality constant is 1.

∴F=dp/dt

We know that momentum is product of mass(m) and velocity (v),

⇒F = d(mv)/dt

SInce mass does not change it is a constant.

⇒F = m dv/dt

But dv/dt is acceleration (a)

∴F = ma.
