We know that ,

F = m₁a

and we also know that ,

F = Gm₁m₂ / r²

this means that ,

F = Gm₁m₂ / r² = m₁a

Gm₁m₂ / r² = m₁a

m₁ gets cancelled on both sides

g = Gm₂ / r²                          [ a = g ]
