Answer ⇒ Option (b). 0.58

Explanation ⇒

Given numbers = 20.17, 21.23, 20.79, 22.07, 21.78

Total numbers of the terms = 5

Mean of the given numbers = (20.17 + 21.23 + 20.79 + 22.07 + 21.78)/5

= 21.208

≈ 21.21

Now, For absolute Error, we need to subtracts each terms by the mean value.

∴ x₁ = |21.21 - 20.17| = |1.04| = 1.04

x₂ = |21.21 - 21.23| = |-0.02| = 0.02

x₃ = |21.21 - 20.79| = |0.42| = 0.42

x₄ = |21.21 - 22.07| = |-0.86| = 0.86

x₅ = |21.21 - 21.78| = |-0.57| = 0.57

Mean Absolute Errors(Δx) = (x₁ + x₂ + x₃ + x₄ + x₅)/5

= (1.04 + 0.02 + 0.42 + 0.86 + 0.57)/5

= 2.91/5

= 0.582

≈ 0.58

Hence, the Mean Absolute Error is 0.58.

Hope it helps.
