To find : estimate the square root and cube root up to one decimal places

Solution:

f(x)  = √x  

f(35) = √35

f(x  +  Δx) = √(36  -  1 )

x = 36  Δx = - 1

f'(x) = 1/2√x

f(x +  Δx)  = f(x)  + f'(x) Δx

=> √35  = √36  +  (1/2√36)(-1)

=> √35  = 6  - 1/12

=> √35  = 6 - 0.0833

=> √35  = 5.9167

=> √35  = 5.9

f(x)  = ∛x  

f(35) = ∛35

f(x  +  Δx) = ∛(27  + 8 )

x = 27  Δx = 8

f'(x) = (1/3  (∛x )²

f(x +  Δx)  = f(x)  + f'(x) Δx

=> ∛35  = ∛27  +  (1/3(∛(27)²)(8)

=> ∛35  =  3 + 8/27

=>  ∛35  = 3 + 0.296

=> ∛35  =3.296

=> ∛35  = 3.3
