The empirical formula is :-

1st the ratio of %age given:mass = 80/12 =6.6

again the ratio of %age given:mass= 20/1 =20

Analysing the formula by dividing 20/6.6 the ratio

will come 1:3.

Now the empirical formula is CH3.

for the case of mol. mass it became CH3×2 =C2H6.
