Ethanal reacts with hydrogen cyanide, in the presence of a small amount of NaCN, as shown.
CH³CHO + HCN » CH³CH(OH)CN
(a) Use bond energies from the Data Booklet to calculate the enthalpy change for this reaction.
Include a sign with your answer.
Ans is -20 , in the mark scheme they've shown that they only calculated CO , CH and OH bonds , why didn't they calculate the CN , and 3 CH bonds since it's CH³? ​
