No. In case of nitrile groups, (-CN ), in the word root, the carbon from -CN group, is also included, so methanenitrile (methyl nitrile) is HCN, while ethanenitrile is CH3CN.

Regarding ethanenitrile (one word, not two) it has many a.k.a.s including acetonitrile, cyanomethane, methyl cyanide (and not methyl nitrile), ethyl nitrile.
