 \bold{Answer\;:-}

1. Ethane ( C_{\text{2}}H_{\text{6}} ) :-

Molecular weight, W = 12×2+1×6

• W = 24+6

W = 30 u

2. Propane ( C_{\text{3}}H_{\text{8}} ) :-

Molecular weight, W = 12×3+1×8

• W = 48+8

W = 44 u

3. Ethylene ( C_{\text{2}}H_{\text{4}} ) :-

Molecular weight, W = 12×2+1×4

• W = 24+4

W = 28 u

4. Acetylene ( C_{\text{2}}H_{\text{2}} ) :-

Molecular weight, W = 12×2+1×2

• W = 24+2

W = 26 u

Hence, compounds in an increasing order of molecular weight are,

Propane > Ethane > Ethylene > Acetylene
