Ethanoic acid react with sodium carbonate and form Sodium acetate, carbon dioxide and water. Ethanoic acid, more commonly known as acetic acid or vinegar (for you non-chemists) reacts with sodium carbonate to form sodium acetate (CH3COONa), water and carbon dioxide.
