See it is not possible by Redox reaction. It is possible by oxidation.
Oxidation - Adding of oxygen atoms or removal of hydrogen atoms.
Conversion of ethanol to ethanoic acid undergoes oxidation.
C2H5OH --------> CH3COOH in presence of K2Cr2O7 (Potassium dichromate) + Dilute H2SO4 ( Sulphuric acid).
