Ethanoyl chloride reacts with cold alcohol which leads to the formation of compound with functional group named as ester , along with the evolution of hydrogen chloride.
The first stage of the reaction is the nucleophilic attack on positive charge carbon atom by lone pairs of the oxygen from propanol.
The second follows two steps, the carbon-oxygen double bond reforms and a chloride ion is pushed off.
The first two stages are followed by third one which completes the formation of ester.followed by removal of a hydrogen ion by the chloride ion to give ester and hydrogen chloride.
