1) convert ethane into iodoethane by treating ethane with iodine in the presence of iodic acid(HIO3).

C2H6+ I2→ C2H5I+ HI

2) The obtained iodoethane is then treated with silvernitrite to get nitroethane.

C2H5I+ AgNO2→ C2H5NO2+ AgI.

Hope it helps......✌

The conversion of ethane into nitroethane can be done by first converting ethane into iodoethane which is done by treating ethane with iodine in the presence of iodic acid(HIO3). The obtained iodoethane is then treated with silvernitrite to get nitroethane.
