The Sinhalese community forms the majority of the population (74%) with Tamils (18%) who are mostly concentrated in the north and east of the island, forming the largest ethnic minority. Other communities include the Muslims. Among Tamils, there are two sub-groups.

-Ethnicities- Dutch, French and German

- 59% lives in Flemish Region- speak dutch language.

-40% population lives in Wallonia region  - speak French.

-1% Belgians speak German.

-In the capital city Brussels , 80% population is French and 20% is  Dutch

• Sinhala  Tamilians – 12%

• Sinhala speaking population is Buddhists.

Most of the Tamilians are either Hindus or Muslims. • Sinhala and Tamil speaking christians are also there about 7%.
