Answer:

Euglena is not classified as an animal nor a plant. Euglena belong to a third kingdom called Protista. Most species of Euglena have chloroplasts which help them synthesize food from sunlight making them autotrophs. On the other hand they can take nourishment heterotrophically which makes them similar to animals.

Answer:

Explanation:

  • Euglena is a protist but it has both characteristics of plants and animal.

Plant characteristics

  1. It contains chloroplast with photosynthetic pigments.
  2. Holophytic nutrition.( making their own food)

Animal characteristics

  1. Absence of cell wall and presence of proteinaceous pellicle which makes it flexible.
  2. presence of stigma and paraflagellar body.
  3. presence of contractile vacuole.
  4. presence of longitudinal binary fission.

hence we can say that it can be a plant or an animal but since it has been placed in protista due to its saprophytic properties it is a protist.

I HOPE THIS IS HELPFUL

THANKS.
