.The Ottoman Turks charged Christian high fees to get through the route. Apart from this, the route was also unsafe due to the marauding bands of Tatar and the Mongols. Thus, the Europeans felt the need to discover new sea routes to India.

Answer:

This is because while coming back from silk route and the spice route they have to pay a large sum of money as a tax to turkish people who called them as taxers. This decreases the profit margin for them and the value increases drastically and it become impossible for the local people to buy them.

Hence they felt the need to discover a new sea route to India.
