Answer:

Hey mate here's your answer

Explanation:

Yes, it should be legalized for following reasons

1 ) Ethical reasons- Prolonging suffering of any living creature is unethical. If they themselves wish to escape misery, the law should assist them.

Practical reasons- This may sound indelicate to many but In a country like India, where people who doctors can do something about, do not get the treatment or facilities. Whereas terminal/comatose cases occupy beds and medical attention suspended in a just breathing stage for years.

2 ) Historical precedence- India is one of the few countries where ‘ichha-mrityu’ (chosen death) was not a sin but a boon. Most of Hindu and Jain revered figures such as Krishna,Balram, Ram, Sita, Pandavas, Dadhichi, Bhishma chose to give up their lives, despite not being terminally ill. Methodologically, Bhishma received the gift to choose when his life ends so it was considered a blessing rather than sin to die voluntarily. Even till date, many Jain sages adopt/practice when they feel that their purpose of life is complete.

The financial and emotional toll on the family of a comatose person can be unbearable. I personally know a case where a young guy became comatose after severe accident and his family sold all their liquid and non liquid assets including the only patch of cultivable land. The poor guy died after a year leaving his family in penury. Plans for marriage and education of his siblings were cancelled due to lack of money. If the medical community were sensitive towards euthanasia and gave an honest medical opinion about chances of his survival, the family would have been able to make an informed decision. Rationality demands that we cut the organ that is spreading the gangrene to whole body.

Current precedence- We support and allow euthanasia for our pets. But we do not give option to go with dignity to humans.

3 ) Legal issues - The two main obstacles against euthanasia are legal and medical ethics. The remedy for legal obstacle is in article 21 “The right to life includes the right to live with human dignity” and “it must include the right to the basic necessities of life and also the right to carry on such functions and activities as constitute the bare minimum expression of the human self”. The second problem is with the Hippocratic oath(do no harm) that doctors site to deny euthanasia. But there is a certain long held provision where doctor can ethically withhold treatment in case of torture and if they believe the torture will be continued after treatment. Some terminally ill people are being ‘tortured’ by keeping them locked inside a decaying and aching shell of a body.

Answer:

Euthanasia, also known as mercy killing, is the medical procedure of painlessly killing of a person suffering from a very painful and incurable disease. The decision is taken by the patient or by the closest family members in case the patient is unable to answer due to coma or lost of his or her sense. It is legal in India but it is frowned upon the society. Further their are many other laws which must be fulfilled first.
