= $ [( x^2 - 1 ) + 3 ] / x + 1 ) dx
= $ ( x^2 - 1 )/ ( x+ 1) + 3/ (x + 1) dx
= $ (x + 1) (x - 1) dx / (x+ 1) + 3dx /(x + 1)
= $ (x- 1) dx + 3 dx /(x + 1)
= $ x dx - $ dx + 3 dx /(x + 1)
= x^2 - x + 3 log (x + 1) + C
