First of all, we have to know the identity to solve the problem.

Only one identity is needed for solving the problem i.e.,

 {(x - y)}^{3}  =  {x}^{3}  -  {y}^{3}  - 3xy(x - y)

Now, we will represent 99 in the form of x-y, So, we can write like this:-

 {99}^{3}

 =  {(100 - 1)}^{3}

Now, we will evaluate.

 {(100 - 1)}^{3}

 =  {100}^{3}  -  {1}^{3}  - 3 \times 100 \times 1 \times (100 - 1)

 = 1000000 - 1 -( 300 \times 99)

 = 1000000 - 1 - 29700

 = 970299
