Evaluate: (i) 82^2 + 78^2

(ii) 97^2 − 83^2​

i) \:  \:  \:  \:  \: 82 {}^{2}  + 78 {}^{2}  \\  = (82 + 78) {}^{2}  - 2 \times 82 \times 78 \\  = 160 {}^{2}  - 12792 \\  = 25600 - 12792 \\  = 12808

ii) \:  \:  \:  \:  \: 97 {}^{2}  - 83 {}^{2} \\  = (97 + 83)(97 - 83) \\  = 180 \times 14 \\  = 25200.
