Positive effects

Development aid is vital for rural communities suffering from natural disasters.

It helps rural communities to produce agricultural outputs which is used to feed the population and reduce dependence on foodgrains exports.

Negative effects

It demoralises the self sufficient nature of rural communities and makes them dependent.

Most welfare schemes fail because of corruption and lack of accountability from government officers.

The study areas of South Africa include village of Cata, Vula Masango, Tsogang etc.

Aid is at times provided by the government to the places which are economically backward and where people are mostly poor and at times where agriculture is not as possible because of some limitations to the ground.

There are some advantages and disadvantages related to providing aid to communities and places,

Some of the advantages are:

People surviving in the the places don’t die of hunger or lacking of food. The area of development grows as a potential industry. Leads to potential future investments from different companies and countries.

The disadvantages are:

People being way to much dependent on it for their livelyhood, lack of coordination with the organization might lead to corruption.
