Answer:

\frac{3}{4} -\frac{2}{5} +\frac{5}{8} = \frac{3(10)-2(8)+5(5)}{40} \\\frac{3}{4} -\frac{2}{5} +\frac{5}{8} = \frac{30-16+25}{40} \\\frac{3}{4} -\frac{2}{5} +\frac{5}{8} = \frac{39}{40} \\\frac{3}{4} -\frac{2}{5} +\frac{5}{8} = 0.975

Solution

 \frac{3}{4 }  -  \frac{2}{5} \: +  \frac{5}{8}

lcm \: of \: 5 \: and \: 8 = 40

 \frac{2}{5}   \times  \frac{8}{8}  =  \frac{16}{40}

 \frac{5}{8}  \times  \frac{5}{5}  =  \frac{25}{40}

add \: both \:

 \frac{16}{40 }  +  \frac{25}{40}  =  \frac{41}{40}

no w \: lcm \: of \: 40 \: and \: 4 = 40

 \frac{3}{4}  \times  \frac{10}{10}  =  \frac{30}{40}

 \frac{41}{40}  \times  \frac{1}{1}  =  \frac{41}{40}

now \: subtract \: both \:

 \frac{41  - 30}{40}

 \frac{11}{40}

so \: the \: answer \: is \:  \frac{11}{40}
